I earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at the University of California, Irvine. Shortly after graduating from UCI, I worked at a non-profit learning center for children and adults from low-income families. As a program coordinator, I sought various government and privately funded programs that provided educational opportunities for children, most of whom were recent immigrants from Asia and South America. I enjoyed direct service in the field of social work, particularly in helping children, and decided to pursue teaching as a career. I completed a program at the University of Southern California, Rossier School of Education where I obtained a Master of Arts in Teaching, as well as a teaching credential. Recently, I obtained a second Master of Arts in Education with a concentration in Educational Leadership from Point Loma Nazarene University. With this second postgraduate degree, I received an administrative services credential. I believe that good educators are, first and foremost, lifelong learners. Therefore, I plan to continue taking classes throughout my career in order to be the best teacher I can be for my students.
I grew up in the relatively small city of Cerritos (famed for it's Autosquare - "Off 605 and South Street..."). Currently, I reside in San Gabriel Valley with my husband of four years and our three dogs. Bijou is a Pomeranian and quite the little princess. Pepper is a chocolate Labrador mix and she's full of energy. Strange Dog, who was rescued off the mean streets of Downtown Los Angeles, is our resident old-timer and spends his days napping in the sun or stealing food.
